Today was a busy day! The beginning of the afternoon was spent at an end-of-football-season team and family BBQ which was a rushed affair for us seeing that we had to head off to a birthday party. Max has a way busier social life than Vic and I put together!
The morning was spent finishing off Max’s magician costume for his friends Freddy’s fourth birthday party which went from two until four this afternoon. Vic and I made the whole thing from scratch, including the wand, and I reckon it would have been cheaper (and certainly easier) to just buy an outfit. In saying that it was quite satisfying to see that Max was the only kid in an outfit that was hand made. Elliot went as a rock star with a little sleeveless denim jacket that Jason and Selena bought him from the UK. We didn’t get a picture of Elliot but hopefully someone at the party did ‘cos he looked so cute.

It was a nice day today and the boys made the most of it by playing in the sandpit and baring their legs for the first time in a few months! Here they are taking a break and having a spot of morning tea

Great weekend last weekend!
Saturday morning found Max and I at the airport awaiting the arrival of my brother and his wife from the UK. They haven’t been home for two and a half years – Max had just had his first birthday and Elliot wasn’t even conceived. Naturally of course this wasn’t going to be as simple as it should be and just after we had pulled into the car park Jason called from Auckland to say that their flight to Auckland was over two hours late and they didn’t make the connecting flight to Wellington. Unfortunately the next flight they could get on was three hours later! Luckily Max loves the airport and his Granddad had just turned up as well so we thought we’d look at the planes and have a drink.
The thing about this visit is that one of the reasons for them coming home was to celebrate my Mum’s 60th birthday on Sunday. Mum had no idea that they were coming back and Jason had even created a fake itinerary to put her off the trail. After Jason and Max had become acquainted again (and that went extremely well) it was off to my Mum’s place to surprise her The look on my Mum’s face when Jason and Selena walked in was absolutely priceless – just as well I got in on video 
For my Mum’s birthday on the Sunday we went out for brunch so she could spend time with the boys and then had dinner in the evening for the adults. The evening ended with Mum and friends slamming “Quick f*cks” and champagne

It seems that the bug that Max and Elliot have/had really is going around as Vic just told me that 15 of the 40 kids at Max’s kindy were off sick yesterday!
As for our boys Max was full of energy this morning and besides having an upset tummy seems to be back to normal. Elliot seems OK and is keeping his food down but is still a bit grizzly.
