Holiday fun for the kids
Caught up with Ali (a school friend of mine today) and her children. It was great to see them but also realised just how much I miss them. They live a couple of hours away https://www.real4exam.com/1Z0-1017.html https://www.real4exam.com/1Z0-160.htmland we don’t get to see them that often – last time was about a year ago. Having kids at school, and both of us with husbands and kids that play sport in the weekend means we can really only meet during the school holidays now. We both drove for an hour to meet in the middle, the kids had a run around in the park for an hour and a half, then we had lunch and more play at McDonalds. The kids all played well together although Elliot still thinks he’s the Kung Fu Panda and had to remind him not to hit the others! Here’s a photo of Jack (7), Abbey (6), Max (5) and Elliot (3).

expected really….
We had our first family day at the movies yesterday and decided to see Kung Fu Panda. The boys both handled the length of the movie pretty well although Elliot did get a wee bit scared during one of the fight scenes and spent the next hour on my knee 🙂
What we should have realised of course is that for the next God-knows-how-long we would have three and five year olds terrorising each other with very dodgy martial arts moves. Elliot gets terrified with Max pretending to punch and kick him and wails his head off. All terrible until Max gets bored and turns his back then a three year old Bruce Lee comes bursting out and he somehow thinks that Max will be OK with a karate chop to the head…….

A really cool thing has started to happen over the last week or so – Max has started to try writing words himself by sounding them out in his head and spelling them as he would say them. It makes for some very interesting ways of spelling things but you can usually figure out what he’s trying to say. The really hilarious thing is he’ll sit there and argue about the spelling with you absolutely sure that he is right!
He’s also started to spell simple words that he’s never seen before by getting the phonetics right.
Amazing what a term and a bit at school can do for a kid.
results
This was a great weekend for football (soccer) results:
- My masters team won 1-0 for our first win of the season
- Max’s team won their “little dribblers” game 6-1. He also bought his first set of boots.
- The Phoenix won an exhibition, Chinese earthquake charity match 6-2. Vic and I took Max and Elliot along for their first Phoenix game – Max enjoyed it and Elliot was over it in about 20 minutes 🙂
Max and I also had a great bonding moment this afternoon as we sat there cleaning our boots together…..
