blackberry harbour
This week I’ve been on a course that has required me to walk 25 minutes or so from my normal parking place. Besides the weather being horrible the walk has actually been quite nice. Wednesday afternoon was quite nice so I thought I’d whip out my Blackberry and take a few dodgy shots. It’s moments like this I wish I had a decent small camera I could carry with me all the time. A few more here
I can’t believe I said that….
Here are the top nine comments made by NBC sports commentators during the Olympics that they would like to take back:
- Weightlifting commentator: ‘This is Gregorieva from Bulgaria. I saw her snatch this morning during her warm up and it was amazing.’
- Dressage commentator: ‘This is really a lovely horse and I speak from personal experience since I once mounted her mother.’
- Paul Hamm, Gymnast: ‘I owe a lot to my parents, especially my mother and father.’
- Boxing Analyst: ‘Sure there have been injuries, and even some deaths in boxing, but none of them really that serious.’
- Softball announcer: ‘If history repeats itself, I should think we can expect the same thing again.’
- Basketball analyst: ‘He dribbles a lot and the opposition doesn’t like it. In fact you can see it all over their faces.’
- At the rowing medal ceremony: ‘Ah, isn’t that nice, the wife of the IOC president is hugging the cox of the British crew.’
- Soccer commentator: ‘Julian Dicks is everywhere. It’s like they’ve got eleven Dicks on the field.’
- Tennis commentator: ‘One of the reasons Andy is playing so well is that, before the final round, his wife takes out his balls and kisses them… Oh my God, what have I just said?’

I was watching diving at the Olympics the other day, saw this old cartoon from the rut almost straight after and thought the timing was impeccable!
Newflash – stork delivers!
A very hearty congratulations to our friends Jay and Larry who are living in London at the moment and after three days of to-ing and fro-ing got around to delivering a baby boy (name unconfirmed) on Sunday 17 August 2008 at 2:15am and weighing in at 9 pounds and 2 ounces.
Update: We can now say welcome to Thomas Lauchlan Jackett
Vic, Rico and I raised our drinks to the new addition after the Phoenix game yesterday (email came in during the game) to say well done and welcome to the world baby Jackett!
draw
Twas the Phoenix’s first game of the season proper last night and they ground out a very uninspiring 1-1 draw against the Queensland Roar. Besides the game Vic and I have a very nice afternoon with a late lunch in town and then a few drinks before the game.
I also took my camera with a 28mm prime on it but didn’t take a lot of shots. Here’s a few from the night…..

night
Well we made it through the night! Vomiting and diarrhoea – we had people with every combination.
Max – vomiting only. Threw up in three sessions between 6 and 10pm. We’d given him a bowl and he used it every time the wee star.
Vic – vomiting and diarrhoea. Sometimes at the same time! Nice…..
Marc – Diarrhoea only and even that didn’t kick in until about 3am. I had, however, been awake from 10pm until 2am keeping an ear out for the boys.
Elliot – Nothing. Right as rain the lucky bugger 🙂
So all up a great night! Everyone is much better this morning though so I guess that it was just something that needed to get out of our systems one way or the other…….. Thanks for all the emails wishing us well 🙂
