stand up!

This is such a cute story (for us anyway)

Max has been having loads of toilet related accidents lately so we decided last night to create a star chart for him in relation to staying dry during the day. We split the day into 6 x 2 hour blocks and said that if he stayed dry and got all six stars in a day then I would read him two stories at bedtime instead of one. This seemed to work and he went the whole day today with only one little accident just as he was getting ready for his bath (this didn’t count as it was after the last time block wink)

Anyway, on to the story.  Max had been getting himself to the toilet all day and at about 2pm he trundles off to the loo. Vic goes in a minute later to find that he has just finished having a pee standing up!  He’s tall enough that he didn’t even have to lift the seat up smile I guess he’s seen me do it for quite some time but he’s only peed twice standing up and for him to just toodle off and do it himself is pretty cool!

four and counting

I made a deal with Max a couple of days ago smile

He had been dry through the night for a couple of nights so I said that we would put a star on the calendar each night that he was dry and that when he made it to five in a row I would buy him a cake smile

He’s done four in a row right now and is looking forward to his cake…… we’ll see wink

brothers

For the most part Max and Elliot get on OK.  Elliot adores Max and he’ll follow him with his eyes all day.  Max, on the other hand, can take or leave his little brother I think wink At times he loves him to bits (but doesn’t realise he’s much bigger) and at other times he’s just a jealous, attention craving monster – which I think is normal smile

Here they are showing each other some brotherly love.

potty training update 3

I know, I know another entry relating to Max’s bowel movements but hey, it’s a big part of our lives (sad I know!)

He’s done so well over the last four days with the only “accidents” happening when he’s been out and in pull ups – so no mess to clean up wink The other night he also woke up at about 10pm and asked to go to the toilet which was a good sign.  All and all he’s been fantastic so yesterday I went out and bought him a present to show how proud we were of him and I had planned on giving it to him today.

What made giving all the better was the fact that he had his first dry night last night! yay Max! I put him to bed about 7 and about 10 he woke up and cried out that he wanted to go to the toilet so I got up, took his nappy off him and let him go. Back off to bed he went and the next thing you know he’s taking himself to the bathroom at 6 this morning. I went in to make sure he was OK and gave him a hand with his nappy and it was completely dry! An 8 hour stretch was pretty good I reckon.

Does the pride in my little boy come across smile ?

potty training update 2

Poor wee Max was doing so well until this evening!  He had been in the same pair of underpants all day today and that even included going out for an hour and a half this morning too! It had got to about 18:00, Max had finished his dinner and was starting to fade (we’ve been up since 05:00, Max and I) when the first accident happened. He was standing in the family room and looked down to find himself standing in a puddle…… he was so upset about it and bawled his eyes out while I stripped his bottoms off and cleaned up the floor. We’d just finished all that and put new clothes on when he said that he’d popped (our word for farting) and then his expression changed to one of horror as he said “too late Mummy, too late” and burst into tears again.  By this stage he was starting to get clumsy-tired and so it was off upstairs to bed.

All in all we are very pleased with the way things have gone and are so proud of our little man smile

potty training update 1

OK, so we’re 7 hours into Max’s first day wearing underpants and so far it’s gone really well (touch wood!)

He’s sat on his potty about 12 times this morning and peed about 10 times, done a small poo once and done a massive, adult size crap once (I have pictures of course but, really, you don’t want to see them) smile Within about an hour or so he got to the stage where he would walk over to his potty, take his own underpants off and sit down.  All this and only one tiny accident where he didn’t quite make it and did a tiny dribble of pee in his underpants – I’ve peed myself more at really good comedy shows I’m sure of it!

I’m sure you’ll be hearing more……..
