Max has some quite cute sayings at the moment (at least to me) These include:

Max showed us two sides today….

The first was when I was downstairs, he came down to see me and said “Daddy all lined up” and grabbed my hand.  He took me upstairs and proceeded to show me all the travel books that he had removed from the bookshelf and lined up for my perusal

The second was even funnier (but much harder to clean up!) Max had gone down for his afternoon nap and after about an hour I heard him bawling his eyes out for some reason.  I went upstairs to find him sitting on his bed where he had obviously got himself ready for a nappy change.  He’d got his changing mat, wipes, a nappy and a tub of nappy rash cream in preparation……  As you can see below he decided to have some fun with a whole tub of cream and the damn stuff was everywhere!  It was all over his hands to a thickness of about a quarter of an inch, over his bed clothes, his legs, the clothes he was going to put on, you name it!  I had to laugh though Into the bath he went and plenty of washing later he was spic and span.

It wouldn’t be so bad but the damn stuff is water repellent and is proving a sod to get off everything…..

New Zealand has one of the highest rates of meningococcal disease in the world for some reason and after a spate of outbreaks over the last few years the government is innoculating every child against it.

This morning was Max’s first of three injections and he was a little trooper!  He had the injection in his thigh and cried for about 5 seconds until the offered jelly beans distracted him

Vic is big, tired and strangely driven to clean until she drops 🙁 She has a week until her due date and if the baby came tomorrow she wouldn’t be unhappy….

Max, on the other hand, has discovered that when he turns our little digicam on there is a picture of him on the screen briefly.  This is his reaction when he turned the camera on for about the fifth time.

There’s not been much news of Max lately and I apologise for that.  The major change I’ve seen in him over the last month or so is his increasing ability to string words together and to come up with words that Vic and I have no idea where they come from!

For example I was making his sandwich at lunchtime today and naturally he likes to “help” He brings his little chair over so he’s at the right height and puts it on the kitchen rug.  The rug’s not flat though and the chair isn’t as stable as it should be.  After a while he looks up at me and say “Daddy chair wobble”

Now the first two words are common but he has never used the word wobble before to the knowledge of Vic or myself!  So not only did he use a brand new word but, more impressively, used it in the right context.  Amazing things kids…..

Max had another big milestone in his life today (at least to us)

We’ve had a couple of potties lying around for a while (and some toilet seat inserts) and every now and again we’ll think that Max wants to go to the toilet and we’ll sit him on one on the off-chance and a while back he squeezed a bit of urine out but not what you call “going to the toilet”

This morning he was sitting playing and he looked up at Vic and said said “Mummy me poo” so she asked him if he wanted to go and sit on his potty.  He said yes but then proceeded to tell her that Daddy had to take him!  I was in my office but went and got Max, sat him on his potty and away he went with a huge stream of wee

I’m so proud of my little man and we’ll have to see how it all pans out over the next couple of days/weeks

It’s been two months since I’ve posted an image of Max so here’s a shot of him at the airport seeing Jay, Larry and Ali off.  It doesn’t really give you an idea of how much he’s grown but what the hell

The extended entry shows he’s not always happy though!
