Where to start?
The last week has been mental and hence the lack of updates. The strange thing is we didn’t seem to do anything out of the ordinary but the week just seemed to get away from me!
Tuesday and Wednesday were spent in Christchurch on business and the work from that flowed over into Thursday. On top of that my new PC was waiting for me in the hallway when I got home but that had to wait until the next day (I know!) Since then I’ve been slowly getting it set up the way I like (hey, it’s not all that easy to get 1920×1200 desktop wallpaper!) and so know the PC that sounded like a jet has been switched off – yay!
And tonight we are filling out our census forms so that’s been fun………
The kids are fine so there’s no real news there. Elliot is getting more and more mobile and has started to let go of the furniture that he’s holding on to. It’s the standard fare with him all of a sudden becoming aware of what he’s doing and then collapsing to the floor – all very funny.
Oh and if Martin reads this I have got your email and will, eventually get around to replying – honest.

Another milestone in Elliot’s life! For the last two days he’s been pulling himself up on furniture/people/laundry baskets. Given this, another round of “Elliot proofing” has had to be carried out (at about 12” above the previous round

Once again, The Washington Post has published the winning submissions to its yearly neologism contest, in which readers are asked to supply alternate meanings for common words.
The winners are:
1. Coffee (n.), the person upon whom one coughs.
2. Flabbergasted (adj.), appalled over how much weight you have gained.
3. Abdicate (v.), to give up all hope of ever having a flat stomach. Continued in the extended text…..

Not much to say except that the boys are growing up fast. Vic walked in on Elliot today half standing up in his cot and we have since dropped the level of his mattress down….
Did I mention that he’s been crawling for about two weeks now? We keep finding him in all sorts of interesting places that are much further away than we would have considered possible!
He’s also just moved into his big boy, forward facing car seat – and Max has moved into a booster seat that just uses a normal seatbelt.
On another note Max’s playgroup bought a pirate outfit today and Max just had to try it on

We’re back! Well, actually we’ve been back since Monday……
The first four days of my trip to Sydney were work so not much to say there – same shit, different city really. Friday night Vic turned up though and my focus somewhat shifted
I won’t detail the weekend but suffice to say that we had a great time chilling out, eating in nice restaurants and going shopping mad. I think the main thing that Vic enjoyed was being able to go into a shop and wander around, try stuff on etc. without having to worry about a child (or two) getting in the way or running off.
Monday saw the kids delivered back to us in one piece and all the baby-sitters involved (thanks!) reporting that both kids had been little angels, slept through the night, blah blah (little buggers!) Max was pretty glad to see me back though and gave me big, squeezy hugs for the first 10 minutes bless him.
Here’s a picture of Max taken while I was away. A couple of times he’s grabbed his “steering wheel”, put a seat up on the couch and pretended to drive a car. This time however he piled everything he could find behind the seat and told Vic “Me have van now Mummy” lol!

It’s before 04:00 and I’m sitting here waiting for my cab to come and pick me up and take me to the airport. Another three days of sales kick-off rah-rah-rah in Sydney to come, yay……… The good thing about this time though is the fact that on Friday Vic turns up for two days in Sydney with me, yay (and it’s not a sarcastic yay like before!)
Have a good week people and good luck to those grandparents and aunties that are sharing the boys while we are gone
