My email now works! It seems that all I had to do was reboot my system which must have cleared something from somewhere……….
If that’s right then everything is transferred to Verve – phew

So it seems that I can receive mail (but not send), log in to my control panel (but not add entries) and people can’t leave comments. All very strange.
Entries can be made by logging into the subdomian though (which is what I’m doing….)
Oh well
If you want to comment or say hi email me
Update: I tracked it down to a cookies issue in Zone Alarm (or any other firewall product) It seems that if you turn off cookie control (eek!) or allow all cookies from this domain the everything is fine…….
to http://www.marcandvic.com on verve
Expect strange things to happen over the next few days……… My hosting contract at nexpoint is coming to an end (yay!) and I have set the process underway to move marcandvic.com to my other host verve (so I now host marcandvic.com, inkdemon.com, holgability.com and aboutlight.com all in the same account!
)
I have the site up and running on http://marcandvic.aboutlight.com/marc/blog/ and this will be the last entry on this host until things straighten themselves out. Either way I’ll be continuing on the above link so you can either find me there or the transition will be smooth and you won’t even know I’ve moved (yeah right!)
It’s Wednesday already! Were did the week go? Mind you, in saying that, where’s the year gone?!
The weekend in Auckland was very enjoyable and it was great to catch up with our friends Ann, Claire and David. The only problem is that after a night drinking (well, me at least) our body clocks had us waking at 06:02! 🙁 It was, however, quite nice to lie in bed chatting for two hours before dragging ourselves up for breakfast
In other news we had our 20 week scan yesterday and it seems that the baby is fine and healthy. We even watched it opening it’s mouth and sticking it’s tongue out at us
Max was there as well and when we ask where the baby is he points at Vic’s tummy (or if we are in bed he lifts her nightie up and waves at her tummy
) I’m not sure if he really understands but it’s nice that he makes the effort
We won’t be putting anything on the weblog about the sex of the the baby in case there are people out there that don’t want to know (there were last time) so if you want to know then “>email me
Vic and I are off to Auckland for the weekend tomorrow sans Max which, if nothing else, should be interesting
We have my work Christmas party on Saturday night and Dell is sending us up for the weekend – yay!
Besides that the end of the week has been an important one for New Zealand:
? Yesterday saw the passing into law of the Civil Union Bill which basically gives same sex couples the ability to register their relationship and receive the same protection and rights as married couples. This has divided the country and seen some pretty extreme views aired (most based around religious beliefs) All in all Vic and I agree with the bill.
? As of midnight last night it is illegal to light up a cigarette in pretty much any enclosed public space. This includes bars, clubs, casinos and restaurants and follows the lead taken by a few other countries such as Ireland. Another law that I agree with no matter what the smokers say about freedom of choice. The law really just strengthens laws that are already in place relating to smoke free workplaces and was greeted by those unions whose members have to work in premises where smoking was traditionally heavy. It’ll be interesting to see how things work out as smokers will not be fined but rather the business’ that allows them to do so (up to $4,000)
On a more personal note Max’s playgroup had their Christmas party today (at which I was the “official photographer” lol! The joys of working from home
) Food was thrown and balloons popped and everyone seemed to have a good time. Max is still terrified of getting too close to Santa but is a wee bit better than last year!
Anyway, have a good weekend everyone and enjoy that Christmas shopping ![]()
It seems that we’re back after about 3 days of being offline. As far as I can figure it was some sort of mySQL problem as any static pages were working fine. Naturally my support call to my host was replied to just after it came up with the old “we can’t see anything wrong” message. grrrrrr
I’ll work on transfering this site over xmas to my other host, verve, who seem much more responsive and where I have much more control.
Normality (such as it was, has returned)
Yep, as you may have noticed there is no update even though one was promised earlier.
Max has had a couple of very early mornings (try 05:30 and 04:45!) where once he’s got up he hasn’t gone back down. Luckily for Vic I’ve taken Max downstairs and she’s been able to sleep in until 07:30 or so
Given this I really haven’t had the energy to think enough even to post 🙁
Max came through at 04:20 this morning but this time went back to sleep until 06:50 so I feel vaguely human today
Other than that life is just trucking along……….. boring I know.
Oh, the midwife came to visit the other day and we heard the baby’s heartbeat for the first time
It was lying very low and it took ages to find!
**yawn** see ya ![]()
