? Max now has five teeth through
It’s been a while coming but number 5 finally broke through over the last couple of days (top, his left, second out)
? He’s also taken to sleeping on his front with his legs curled up underneath him and his bum up in the air! I think he thinks about crawling somewhere but then just falls asleep
It just can’t be comfortable!
? I think Max is a bit backwards……. at least he goes backwards. He’s very mobile now and kind of crawls with a bit of control, but only backwards! It’s really funny watching him concentrating on and staring at something, a toy for example, and slowly move away from it. It must be really frustrating! hee hee.
? He had his first “ethnic” food yesterday. We went into town and stopped at a Malaysian restaurant for lunch. While we had our lunch I fed him his lunch out of a jar and then he finished it of with a treat – a little piece of roti. He seemed to like it but it’s a bit of a tough bread to eat with no molars
He had fun gumming it for a while though and seemed to enjoy the taste.

Over the last few days Max has discovered that he can crawl backwards for about two feet and then he tucks his feet under and sits up! He’s no good at forwards yet but even so can get himself into some interesting situations

We reached another milestone in Max’s life yesterday – he went from his rear facing baby car seat to a forward facing child restraint (especially designed for big boys
)
Our first trip was into town to have brunch with a friend of Vic’s and Max was extremely confused about the new seating arrangement
He spent the whole 15 minutes looking at us with a perplexed expression on his face…. hee hee
The title of this entry relates to the preponderance of the letters m-a-x in our life at the moment. Whenever we go in the car we put Max in his Maxi Rider car seat which is in the rear seat of our Nissan Maxima………. petty I know but it just came to us this morning

FINALLY – after seven and a half months, a small update from Vic ….
Max has just sat himself up – from laying on his tummy he wriggled backwards and pushed up on his arms at the same time, somehow got his feet underneath him and then he was up! He looked very pleased with himself
We had our first visit to the local playgroup this morning – Max was really good considering he hadn’t been in a room with that many kids before. He stared very seriously at everyone to start with, but for most of the time we sat on the floor together with a nine month old boy and they checked each other out – which involved patting each other, Max chewing the little boys shoes (toes as well) and also trying to rip his new friends ears off. They played with the same toys for about an hour and the only time we nearly had tears was when a little girl face-planted on the mat in front of them. She promptly burst into tears, and both Max and his new friends little bottom lips came out – thankfully there was a room full of toys to distract them with. Had a chat to a few of the other mums (and dads) while there and am looking forward to going again next week.

You know that sound that old people make when they are sucking and slurping on their false teeth?
That’s exactly the sound that Max has started to make as he experiments with his teeth
lol!

That’s it – we are going to have to get Max a baby toothbrush! So far we have been cleaning his teeth with baby toothpaste and a small muslin. This has been fine so far and he really likes to suck the cloth afterwards and rinse any leftover t’paste off his teeth. The problem is he seems to really like the taste of the toothpaste and has started chomping down on my finger and it bloody hurts! The wee man has jaws like a croc and teeth like a shark 🙁
He also had his first commercially prepared baby food yesterday. He’s had things like egg custard and baby rice but this was his first “meal” – Watties Pumpkin, Potato and Beef. Vic’s been really good so far and has made all his meals but, frankly, was running out of ideas
I think that for a while Max will have 2 homemade meals and maybe one prepared one per day. At least we can give him a good range of tastes and textures.

What a great 24 hours – Maxwise
He woke up yesterday in a very smiley mood and was a wee poppet all through the day. We’ve been trying to reset his sleeping habits over the last 3 days and last night he went down at 9 and woke up at 8 this morning. Now all we have to do is get him to sleep from 7 ‘til 7
He’s also started rolling onto his side in his sleep! I went in this morning and he was on his side facing the wall, eyes wide open and a smile on his face…… weird!
