YAY for living in the UK for once!  We have a four day weekend this weekend in celebration of the Queens golden jubilee :vbg:

And our friends Steve and Geetha moved to the UK from NZ last weekend and we get to see them tomorrow smile

And it’ll be interesting to see how England goes against Sweden on Sunday morning in their first World Cup game

Did I mention we get a four day weekend? wink

holy crap!

Senegal just beat title holders France 1-0 in the opening game of the World Cup!

Senegal were paying 9-1 for the win which shows how much of an underdog they were! Is it the year of an African nation’s triumph?  Probably not but still a great upset smile

not much

This post was written by Marc in the category(ies) Ramblings No Comments »

I look back and realise how little I’ve written here.  It’s a very strange mixture of being busy but doing nothing worthwhile mentioning at the same time :glum:  You’d think that if you were really busy there’d be loads to talk about – not me!

One thing – Big Brother (henceforth known as BB) started last weekend.  We haven’t watched very much but that’s what happened last time – started of very non committal about it but then got hooked! damnit!

hairy

This post was written by Marc in the category(ies) Ramblings 2 Comments »

I know it’s probably quite normal but the older I get the hairier I get!  I’ve never been the most hirsute person in the world and until the last few years you’d be hard pressed to see much hair if I just had my shirt off.

Over the last couple of years though there has been a serious increase in the amount of hair – especially on my stomach.  If this carries on I’ll look like Neanderthal man by the time I retire……… :glum:

things

1) After watching England’s poor showing against South Korea in their World Cup warm up match today I don’t think they stand a snowballs chance in hell of bringing that cup home.  I know, I know it was only a warm up match and Beckham, Fowler et al were out injured but even so……… The first half wasn’t so bad but the second half they played like a bunch of schoolboys.

2) I bought Vic some flowers today.  I don’t buy Vic flowers (well not often) I had a moment of love towards her when I was out today and thought she deserved them – she likes flowers smile

She gets home in about an hour and it’ll be nice to surprise her.

uneventful weekend

Well the weekend has come and gone and too quickly at that 🙁

Did sod all this weekend.  Vic and I spent saturday morning in the center of London getting the battery in my Longines watch replaced.  I have found a place in Bond St that replaces batteries in an hour or so instead of the 3 weeks that some of the high street stores take.  I also used them for my Tag Heuer a while back as they can pressure test to 200m.

Sunday morning Richard and I went to Spitalfields Market.  I wanted to have a chat to the pro that judged the photo competition I won last week and so we thought we’d get together for a coffee. The food stalls there are great and it was very hard to stick my diet :zoink:  but I did……….

Besides that we did f*ck all except chill out and speak to our family back in NZ!

I did however come across this very funny link (IMO) .  It may make sense to church-goers but just made me laugh.

lovely day

It really is a gorgeous day here in London with fine weather and a temperature of 25?C/77?F

Whilst I may not be as lucky as Martin (who was sitting in his garden ICQ’ing me on his wireless network earlier) at least I can sit in my home office with all the windows wide open and the sound of the River Thames wafting over me.

Gotta be better than an air-conditioned building with just the sound of bickering to keep your aural senses working!

two things

This post was written by Marc in the category(ies) Ramblings 2 Comments »

1) It’s now been 18 months since Vic and I had a microwave in our flat.  Do we miss it?  Sometimes, but not as often as I thought we would

2) Stories like this piss me off.  You try to save lives and get screwed for it.  They need signs that say “Danger – pretty much everything in life”
