It seems that we’re back after about 3 days of being offline.  As far as I can figure it was some sort of mySQL problem as any static pages were working fine.  Naturally my support call to my host was replied to just after it came up with the old “we can’t see anything wrong” message. grrrrrr

I’ll work on transfering this site over xmas to my other host, verve, who seem much more responsive and where I have much more control.

morning all Just a quick email to say that we are back from our wee expedition (got back yesterday afternoon) and all safe and well.  Max travelled pretty well and I’ll do an update in the next couple of days and put some pictures up as well.  Until then here;s a couple of big things:

? Max had his first night in his big bed last night!  When we got back we took him up to his room and dismantled his cot in front of him so he’d know what happened to it.  We put him to bed last night about 19:15, went back once about ten minutes later because he wouldn’t settle and that was it – he slept through until just before six this morning!!!  When he came through we told him how proud we were of him and heaped praise on him because he was all grown up We’ll see how he goes tonight……..

? Over the last few days Vic has really started to feel the baby move.  Another step along the pregnancy trail

After all the travel I’ve done over the last month it was quite nice that work cancelled the latest trip to Australia!  If it hadn’t been cancelled I would now be in Sydney working on a New Zealand public holiday (again!)

I saying that here are the trips I have planned:

Tomorrow – day trip to Auckland

Next week – overnighter to Auckland

Late November – a week away touring around the North Island with Vic and Max on vacation, YAY!

Very early December – overnighter to Christchurch

Mid December – a weekend away in Auckland for company xmas do

Not exactly slowing down………

PS: I said to Vic a couple of days ago that I wanted The Red Sox to win the world series.  I’ve watched most of the first two games and so far so good.  Don’t ask me why I want them to win, I just do.

I’m thinking about packing this blog/site in.

This site (and http://www.allthegoodnamesweregone.com prior) was started about 6 years ago to allow the people home in NZ to know what going on in our lives in the UK.  It really served it’s purpose and continued on when we returned to NZ allowing our UK based friends and family to keep track of the three of us over here.

One thing that really frustrates me though is not knowing who’s visiting and what they think of what’s going on.  There are about 5 people that comment on a regular basis and for a site that gets about 250+ hits a day that sucks!  I took away the need for registration some time ago hoping that if all people had to do was give a name and an email address that it would increase the frequency of comments but that didn’t seem to make much difference.

Now I must admit that things have been a bit slow on the posting front lately and that’s a mixture of being really busy and wondering why I’m doing it at all.

If you read this site and would like to see it continue (I know Vic would) then please just leave a quick comment – it just takes a second and at least it would give me an idea if it’s worth it.  I’m not going to ask for a specific number as I’ve seen done in the past but just want a feeling of whether it’s worth it for all of us.

The way that the CSS for this layout reacts to the various pMachine forms (in testing) is really starting to piss me off.

I’m definitely going to do some work over the next week to get it cross browser compatible so expect change of some sort………

… and after all the drama with the vinyl for the bathrooms we picked another one and are still on for the 25th of June.

Less than three weeks!!

It’s the end of a Tuesday after a long weekend (Queen’s Birthday) and I’m a firm believer that these are worse than Mondays after normal weekends.  Although it’s nice to have a three day weekend it’s harder to get back into the work week 🙁

We had a great weekend though.  Jay, Larry, Gayle and Ali came around on Sunday night for pizza and we spent the evening just chilling out and chatting.  Vic and I also looked for a second car over the weekend but didn’t find anything that took our fancy.

My highlight of the weekend was watching love actually with Vic last night.  It was really nice to snuggle up on the couch with her for a few hours and the movie itself was great.  It’s a nice, light movie with a great British ensemble cast and was full of twisted, quirky storylines than only the British can do well.
