Yep, I’m back in town and damn it feels good to be home! Three more weeks and I’m back in Sydney for another week though – next time I’ll take a camera! I walk around and see all these things I want to take pics of but don’t have a small enough camera to take away. I see a shopping trip coming up
Max has learned three new things while I’ve been away 🙁 He now waves properly (not just opening and closing his hand)! You leave, he waves. You come back and he waves – so cool.
He has also taken a shine to walking backwards! lol! He’ll be standing in the middle of the lounge and walk backwards using little steps until he hits something. He looks really funny – a little moonwalking dude!
The final thing is opening doors! Vic was sitting there and watched him walk over to the front door, reach up on tippy-toes to open the front door and then wander out down the drive! He’s only a year old the little bugger! Looks like we’ll be locking the front door from now on……..
PS: Sorry about the over-abundance of exclamation marks in the post……!
I can’t believe it’s been six days since the last entry. There’s not really much to say though……….
Max is covered in bruises from various “I’m so good at walking I can almost run – oh no my legs aren’t really up to the task – oh shit I’m wiping out at speed” episodes
Poor wee man has many more to go, I know, but he looks like an abused child sometimes! He’s also off baby formula now and has moved to 100% full fat milk with no obvious effects.
We’re looking at getting a house built! The bank will lend us loads of money and there is a design/build package up for grabs about 5 minutes from where we are. 5 bedrooms and approx 2700 square feet. We are having a meeting with the developer on Monday to ask some questions………
aboutlight has stalled a wee bit 🙁 I don’t know what to use as a back end and although I have a semi working site up and running locally using pMachine the fact that I can’t allocate multiple categories really bugs me. I can’t seem to get movabletype running locally either……….
No much else going on really – I’m off to Sydney on Tuesday for the rest of the week so it’ll be another quiet week in marcandvicdotcomland.
Here’s a couple of shots that I have recently scanned – the scans aren’t that great but I love the pictures ![]()

Who says guys can’t multi-task? It’s another stunning day here in Wellington
Vic and Max are visiting Janet and I’m sitting on the couch:
1) Trying to figure out a layout and backend for http://www.aboutlight.com. I wouldn’t mind using a blogging/cms tool to manage it so am looking at pMachine, MT (again) WordPress and a few full-on CMS’s. I might also look at some gallery tools to see how configurable they are.
2) Keeping an eye on the 5th cricket ODI between NZ and Pakistan. 200-3 go the blackcaps!
3) Listening to The Alan Parsons Project – The Instrumental Works. Released in 1988 it’s timeless……..
The joys of working from home
It’s about 25C/77F and a fine, calm day. I’m sitting outside under a big sun umbrella with my laptop hooked up to work via my WLAN and it’s thoroughly enjoyable ![]()
Max now has his first molar! Yep, it came though yesterday (still no sight of #8 front tooth though) Having an extra tooth might make up for the one he just took a great chip out of! He has always liked to play with my maglight and today decided to smash it into his face whilst standing up! He chipped off about 1/8th of one of his middle top teeth the silly eejit! and know looks even more dentally out of balance – lol!
Other Max related points:
? In the last few weeks he’s started to show affection (awww) He’ll come up to you and lay his head on your leg (or chest if you’re lying down) and just hold it there for a while. It really is very sweet and makes me go all gooey
? He’s also started to look at you between his legs when he’s standing up! He’ll bend over and either put his hands on the floor and look at you between his legs or just put the top of his head on the floor and peek through
It looks so funny!
That’s about it for now.

I can’t believe that our wee man is one year old 🙁 One of the kids that came to Max’s party was only 8 weeks old and it was amazing to think that Max was that small – seems like yesterday too! Now he’s walking and burbling and feeding himself (and the walls, chairs, me…..) and is a real little person. Does every year pass this quickly? I hope not, but if it does I can see why people with teenagers still say that it seems like yesterday that their children were just babies.
A bittersweet day for me today……….
