off to the hospital
Contractions are 5.5 mins apart and over a minute long so we’d best be off….
Wish us luck!

Vic is big, tired and strangely driven to clean until she drops 🙁 She has a week until her due date and if the baby came tomorrow she wouldn’t be unhappy….
Max, on the other hand, has discovered that when he turns our little digicam on there is a picture of him on the screen briefly. This is his reaction when he turned the camera on for about the fifth time.

For this one day I like both my landline and cellular providers!
My landline provider rang up today and said “you’ve been a great customer over the last ten years or so and we’d like to give you a free 12 month magazine subscription” WTF?! Very cool even though all the magazines were crap. Luckily Vic subscribes to one of the crap magazines
and it runs out next month! Timing couldn’t have been better Mr Telecom…..
Number two is the fact that my cellular provider must have done some work around here because my signal has gone from absolute crap (one signal bar out of five or a dropped signal) to really good (four or five out of five) This is good news when you work from home and the only number you give people is your mobile! Thanks Mr Vodafone……
Sorry for the lack of updates lately, I think we’ve gone into a bit of a nesting mode before the baby comes along! Vic’s been furiously sewing and cleaning and I’ve been sanding, staining and re-coating the cot, installing heaters in the bathroom, putting up curtain rails and such stuff
In other baby news we had an additional scan today. Vic had her weekly meeting with the midwife and she was a bit concerned that baby’s measurements were the same as the previous two weeks and might meen that the baby has stopped growing. Vic also had glucose in her urine which is a possible indicator of gestational diabetes. If you remember we had the same thing last time. This would normally produce a larger baby (not smaller) but the scan today showed the baby to be spot on average (6lb 10oz) so all Vic needs to do now is undergo the same glucose tolerance test as last time and we’ll be sorted.
Only 2 1/2 weeks to go now……..
Max had another big milestone in his life today (at least to us)
We’ve had a couple of potties lying around for a while (and some toilet seat inserts) and every now and again we’ll think that Max wants to go to the toilet and we’ll sit him on one on the off-chance and a while back he squeezed a bit of urine out but not what you call “going to the toilet”
This morning he was sitting playing and he looked up at Vic and said said “Mummy me poo” so she asked him if he wanted to go and sit on his potty. He said yes but then proceeded to tell her that Daddy had to take him! I was in my office but went and got Max, sat him on his potty and away he went with a huge stream of wee
I’m so proud of my little man and we’ll have to see how it all pans out over the next couple of days/weeks ![]()
For those of you in the UK that may be interested to see how your rellies over here look now, here’s a shot of us at Steve and Carrie’s recent wedding.
For those of you that don’t know, it’s Me, Vic, Vic’s sister Ali and Vic’s Mum Janet

What a way to start your morning – cleaning up vomit
I’m sure most parents have gone through this but this is my first experience of having to clean up my child’s meals after they’ve been ingested. So far Max has only thrown up a couple of times in his life and they’ve only been a mouthful or so – this morning was the whole “entire stomach contents and hey, where are the diced carrots” deal.
Max and I had gone downstairs to have breakfast while Vic kept sleeping and, after not eating all that well over the last couple of days, he had a pretty hearty breakfast. After his cereal he was eating some toast and started to cough. I was squatting down in front of his table telling him to chew his food properly (he just inhales food sometimes) when all of a sudden he heaves! He looks at me with a confused look on his face and then really starts to bring up his breakfast 🙁 After three more big heaves he starts crying and there’s vomit all over his plate, the table, the floor, his shoes, his trousers, his top and hands and he really doesn’t know what’s going on. To be fair he had said that he had a sore tummy about 30 minutes before so next time I’ll take him at his word!
After I strip him down and get him a drink to clear his mouth out I leave him sitting there watching me and start to clean up. 8 paper towels and a wet cloth later and we’re off upstairs to get some clean clothes. After that he had some more toast and seemed in a better mood
Now he’s running around as though nothing happened so I’m guessing it was something he ate rather than a fever (plus his temp is fine)
Easter Sunday night and I’m sitting on the couch watching crap T.V. and writing this entry on my PDA…..
I wish there was something exciting to say but there’s not! This last week has just flown by with nothing major happening (except for Jay, Larry and Vic’s sister Ali leaving for the UK :()
Gina was asking the other day about how the baby was going. I know this sounds really bad but there isn’t really anything to say. The little baby seems to be growing well and although Vic is getting sick of being pregnant all in all it’s going well.
Have a good Easter everyone.
