OK, so we’re 7 hours into Max’s first day wearing underpants and so far it’s gone really well (touch wood!)
He’s sat on his potty about 12 times this morning and peed about 10 times, done a small poo once and done a massive, adult size crap once (I have pictures of course but, really, you don’t want to see them)
Within about an hour or so he got to the stage where he would walk over to his potty, take his own underpants off and sit down. All this and only one tiny accident where he didn’t quite make it and did a tiny dribble of pee in his underpants – I’ve peed myself more at really good comedy shows I’m sure of it!
I’m sure you’ll be hearing more……..

Here’s another shot taken by Max today at my Mum’s place with her camera.

A big day in Max’s life today – we decided to do away with nappies (diapers) during the day for him! Here he is looking so proud of the first time in underpants
Vic and I have heard of various approaches to this matter and decided that a full-on, whole hog, deal with the accidents approach suited us best. He’s gone to the toilet in the potty a few times now and is able to tell us when he’s going in his nappy so we thought what the hell. We’ve only started today and things so far are going OK. We put him into underpants when we got home from going out today so it’s only been a couple of hours but he’s done really well and I’m very proud of him. We cleared the rugs out of the family room and will try to keep him on the easy to clean laminate flooring for a couple of days but already twice he’s asked to use the potty and has peed both times – yay!

I gave Max the digital camera for the first time the other day which was slightly nerve wracking. The boy has a knack I can tell you that! This was the first time he had held a camera and about 70% of the shots had a subject centered (I’ll wait until he’s three before I explain the rule of thirds
)
Here’s us snapping each other…….

Another week over and not a lot to show for it (not even a working Government!)
I eventually got down to Christchurch on Thursday and even then I had my doubts – when we flew in the cloud cover looked to be down to about 1,000 feet. I’m not sure exactly what it was but we only descended into clear air about 20 seconds before we touched down!
On Saturday Vic and I did the whole democratic thing and voted in our national elections. It was a nice day so we walked to our local polling booth which is about 30 minutes away and took Max for a play in the park on the way. We have had an MMP electoral system for the last fifteen years or so and yet again we have no clear winner on the night. The two main parties were within a seat of each other and there will now be a month or so of bargaining and horse trading with the minor parties until one party or the other can form a majority coalition. Oh joy……..
In other, more geeky, news I got Mac OSX running on a Dell laptop that I had at home. It took about three days on and off but I now have it booting up normally with screen resolution and sound sorted out. It looks really nice on a 1280×800 12.1” screen! I’ll try soring out the network next (wired and wireless) and then look for some apps
The boys are well (nothing major to report) and we are getting some sleep so aren’t trying to kill each other

Ta to my mate Rico for this
Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl “Will you marry me?”
The girl said “No.”
And the guy lived happily ever after and went playing golf and fishing and watched a lot of footy.

I got around to buying a cheap webcam today so we can now send our moving image around the world
The other reason I bought it was that during one of my many rebuilds I knackered the mic port on the shuttle……..oops.

Where the hell do they go! It seems that the only time that Vic and I slowed down was on Saturday night to watch the final of CSI that I had taped from a while back! At least I got the concrete slab laid for the garden shed – now all I need is an actual shed
In other boring news it now 09:30 on Monday morning and I’ve had time to get up (at 05:15!), shower, drive to the airport, fly to Christchurch, circle for 30 minutes looking at the lovely fog from 20,000 feet, fly back to Wellington, rebook my flights for Thursday, drive home and have a coffee. Not bad for 09:30
