We are still alive!
The last week or so has been crazy busy and between doing stuff and not bothering to do stuff I haven’t done stuff!
The weekend before last saw us fill up our weekend depressingly fast. Saturday saw us driving two hours up the coast for the second birthday party of Abbey, daughter of our good friends Ali and Al. Max now has discovered the joys of a full size trampoline and spent a huge part of the day climbing up a chair onto the tramp and bouncing madly then climbing back down (rinse and repeat……) Max spent loads of time following the “big boys” (four and six) around and due to this can now operate a water fountain well enough to get a couple of mouthfuls from it.
Sunday, and it was me and my Dad moving four cubic meters of premium topsoil to finish the filling of our raised garden. This took a lot longer than expected and before I knew it it was halfway through the afternoon and I was collapsing on the couch.
The week? Well it’s the week, right? Get up, feed Max while Vic sleeps, work all day, give Max his dinner, bath both the boys, put Max to bed, have dinner, watch a tiny bit of TV and go to bed in the knowledge that I’ll be awake at about 06:00. Multiply that by five and you have my work week.
On the Saturday of the weekend just gone we had a lovely family morning out and drove into Wellington for the morning. It was quite a nice morning and we had a walk around town, stopping for brunch at about 10:30 so that Vic could have Eggs Benedict. She love EB but hasn’t had it for close to a year due to being pregnant and then just not going out much. After I dropped everyone off home I then popped out to buy a nice shiny new 60GB colour iPod! It is a very nice piece of kit and I think I’m going to have a lot of fun with it
I also bought a Griffin iTrip so that I can transmit to my car stereo but also play music on the stereo in the family room. I have 130 songs in the genre “Children’s Music” and Max had 90 minutes of random kiddies music this afternoon – great stuff!

This weekend has been an absolute blast!
Saturday morning was spent taking everything out of the garage and sweeping it out. The place was absolutely filthy and once we had packed everything back in properly we had loads more space
Saturday afternoon is when things started to get interesting. I left home at 12:00 to meet up with a mate of mine and travel into town to watch the All Blacks take on the Lions in the second test in a three match series. There were supposedly 15,000 lions supporters in town for the game and the streets had been a sea of red for the few days prior to the game and it was even more so on Saturday. We spent the afternoon working our way through town in various pubs slowly making our way to the ground and the atmosphere was brilliant with fans mixing and getting on really well with each other. A 48-18 win to the All Blacks set the night up for a great party and town afterwards was fizzing with great humored fans from both camps partying until the wee small hours.
All up it was the best and most enjoyable sporting event/day that I have experienced and something that I will remember for the rest of my life – well worth the $250 ticket and the $250 booze money!
I got home by 01:30 and was up at 06:30 to help Vic with the boys and once again the time flew until it was time to go to a one year old’s birthday party in the afternoon (screaming kids + hangover = no yayness
) Not feeling the flashest it was off to bed at 21:00 and another weekend had come to a close all too quickly……

Max has started being a back seat driver at a very early age!
He and I went out for a drive the other day and were driving along all relaxed, singing loudly to the Wiggles when suddenly I hear “Daddy two hands wheel!”
That’s right, he was telling me off for driving and only using one hand on the wheel the cheeky little two and a half year old monkey

OK – this is weird! From todays NZ Herald
Most people are keen to stay out of the pooh, but not some foolhardy Motueka swimmers and kayakers.
Motueka Community Board is having to warn swimmers to stay out of its sewage ponds.
Chairman Cliff Satherley said board members were “flabbergasted” at the discovery.
“We couldn’t believe it. It defies logic.”
The ponds are fenced and locked but Tasman District Council staff reported finding people kayaking, swimming and picnicking in the area, he said.
Mr Satherley said the ponds looked almost like a scenic area but the signs, fencing and occasional smell should be enough to keep people away.
“You’d think common sense would prevail.”
The council would erect more signs at the site.
