When I started using embedded fonts (gee – all of yesterday ago!) I was worried that readers, what few of you there are, would not be able to access this feature. That was until I had a look at the browsers that are in use today. Here’s the latest table from Browser News
Sure, it degrades well (at least into Opera 7) but according to the latest stats plenty of people should be able to see the Anime Ace font that I’m using

I gave in and decided to go with blogrolling.com to keep track of my links (left hand menu). It’s nice to be able to add to it without editing any files

If you are using IE 5 and above the font in the title of each entry should now be a cool James Bond type font
If you are using any other browser it will (should?) just show up as Arial. This is done using Microsoft’s WEFT (Web Embedding Fonts Tool) which is possibly the most non-intuitive s/w I have ever used!
The good thing about this is that it allows the use of almost any font you like without having to use static images that show text (text buttons for example)
I was originally going to use a handwrting type font for the entries but it was too hard to read huge chunks of scrawl – Chris Pirillo’s website is an example.
Anyway – it took a while but it really is nice to get it working
update: OK – so the bond font has gone only to be replaced by a comic book font almost everywhere. it’s a bit easy to go mad…..

My friend (and best man at my wedding) Richard has just bought a webcam. If this is is what happens when you get one I’m not sure if I’ll bother!

…. another redesign. Frankly I blame Gina for giving me the redesign bug
This one’s 100% CSS so should be easy to redesign – I might even have a go at skinning! Yeah right;)

I saw this on TechTV today. It’s the police log from the Arcata Eye newspaper. What a hoot! Here’s an example day:
Sunday, April 13
12:49 a.m. A woman apparently tried to beat her way into a closed G Street sandwich shop. But the door withstood her effrontery, and she was arrested and jailed on a public drunkenness charge.
1:13 a.m. Another public drunkiliciousness arrest, a few blocks away.
1:29 a.m.
A loyal wife picked up her swain
Who’d got too much booze in his brain
But the cross-’Cata cruisy
Made drinky-boy woozy
So he puked his guts down a street drain.
2 a.m. A big trailer park blowout prepared one man for a night in the Pink House of a drunk-o beef.
2:47 a.m. Yet another greenshirt, this one in his late teens, tried to enter a West End Road employee’s car and was detained in a makeshift break room brig before his trip to the Pink House.
3:42 a.m. A metaphor for human existence was spotted in the 1800 block of Q Street, but police couldn’t find the enfeebled, near-moribund personage seen crawling in the roadway, attempting unsuccessfully to rise.

All I can say is thank God for dental anaesthetic
My dentist removed the section of tooth that had partially sheared off, took moulds and built me a temporary crown to see me through until the gold crown is ready (it’s way at the back so won’t be seen) I must admit though, it’s very disconcerting having your teeth drilled and smelling burning! 🙁
It’s been 4 hours and the pain is just starting to kick in – now where was that paracetamol….?
