I know that all fathers must think this but I just can’t believe how Vic and I created such a cute wee perfect boy. Obviously it’s mostly his mother but you’ve got to wonder what the milkman looked like…….

MANILA (Reuters) – Millions of people in Manila have been drinking super-chlorinated water this week as the body of a teenager remained stubbornly stuck in a major supply pipe.

Manila Water Co dumped large doses of the disinfectant into a reservoir serving the eastern part of the Philippine capital after the young man fell into an aqueduct on Saturday while picking fruit.

The company has insisted the water supply is safe as it tries to dislodge the body. Health officials agreed that the chances of contamination were slight but urged Manila Water to work faster.

“We will have to fish out the body first,” Dr Concepcion Quizon, chief executive assistant to Health Secretary Manuel Dayrit, told reporters on Tuesday. “The public will not feel good or right using the water.” Link

Well that was fun! As you may (or may not) have noticed this blog has been down for about 15 hours!  I had asked my web-host to enable GD in the PHP build on the server that I run on.  Unfortunately enabling version 2 of GD seemed to have an extremely detrimental effect on any PHP related hence there being static pages available but no PHP generated pages. They installed GD1.61 and everything seems to be fine.

The reason that I needed GD was that I’m thinking about replacing my image gallery software (again!) with one that automatically generates thumbnails and intermediate sized images. One that looks quite good is Coppermine. We’ll see………

big bath

Max is getting bigger by the minute. He must be but we don’t really see it I guess as we see him every day. The other day though as I was bathing him he banged his head and his feet on opposite ends of the baby bath! He’s a bit of a thrasher in the bath any way because he loves it so much but after that episode and getting soaked every bath time we decided that enough was enough and last night he had his first bath in the big bath smile

Ahhh, things are changing so fast. **sigh** I must admit, it’s nice to be at home to see Max grow up at such a rate though smile

After a bit of mucking about yesterday I got my TV to act as an extension to my PC desktop.  What this means is that my mouse goes sliding off the edge of my screen and appears on my TV – weird!  What this also means is that I can watch ripped DVD’s from my PC on my 32” wide-screen TV smile

Given that, last night Vic and I watched The Royal Tenenbaums. This is a gentle, bizarre, warped movie that seems to lose it’s impetus about an hour in.  It’s full of fantastically quirky characters all linked by a severely dysfunctional family that get together after years of being apart (under very bad circumstances) One problem is that for the last half hour I kept thinking that it was ending – only for the story to carry on. Of course when it did end it was a definite end (I won’t tell you) and I felt a bit silly for thinking what I did wink Is it worth seeing? definitely. Is it worth buying? I don’t think so and so seeing it the way we did worked out quite well.  The funny thing is that I bought this on DVD for my friend Richard only a few months ago so hopefully he enjoyed it!

and the little one said

Another milestone!  Max rolled all the way over from his front to his back last night! It was quite funny the way it happened….. He had just filled his nappy and because of the way he was sitting in his bouncinette it went all up his back (nice!) I got him out and put him on his stomach while I got all the various bits of baby changing paraphernalia ready and a couple of wiggles later he was on his back! Vic was gutted that she missed this but he was nice enough to do it later as well while she was watching smile

2) The movie was awesome! Not perfect though……
