Haven’t updated for a couple of days – so what’s been happening in Cramerland?
? Friday night was my birthday dinner (37 if you must know
) and it was a very relaxed affair with some friends around for pizza and chilling out. I had emails from friends in the UK and a call from my brother who is working in Cork, Ireland at the moment. All up a very pleasant day.
? It was up to Jay and Larry’s on Saturday night for dinner (some of it left-over pizza and birthday cake
) and to watch the All Black’s very unconvincing win over the French…….
? Today and it was up to Vic’s Mum’s place for dinner and to cut vegetables to last her the next few days. She’s still not supposed to do anything like that after her operation until her stitches are removed on Wednesday.
As you can see, a very exciting weekend.
A thought: We’ve been cleaning Max’s teeth ever since they came through and it really is good fun doing it
We use a small muslin with a tiny bit of baby toothpaste on it. He dutifully opens his mouth so we can give the two tiny teeth a clean and then realises that the cold cloth feels good so bites it, grabs it and tries to jam the whole thing in his mouth! Great fun
Another thought: I’m up to chapter 18 in the new Harry Potter book. It took all of about a day to turn up in electronic format on the web and I’m reading it on my PDA (all 38 chapters and 255,000 words of it) The other four we own in paperback and we’ll buy the new one when it comes out in paperback in about 6 months. Pretty good so far………

Max must be a big boy now because he has his very own high chair.

Poor wee man looks lost in it!

Vic and Max are back! much yayness
It was very interesting while they were away, because we’ve spent so much time together over the last few months I had really started to take them for granted. I was quite surprised by how much I missed them 🙁 They were only 30 mins away and the longest that I went without seeing them was about 48 hours but even so………….
And in Max news he visited the Plunket nurse today for general checkup and we discovered that he now weighs in at 19lbs exactly! He is at about the 90th percentile in most measurements so he might end up being a big lad (although you can’t tell much at this stage
He has now also tried three different solid foods (well four if you count baby rice)
? Kumara (a NZ native sweet potato) – yummy
? Butternut pumpkin – yummy too (also a good face mask!)
? Carrot – not too sure about this one yet……….
And yes his pooh is changing in consistency and colour (bright orange!)

This is what happens when Dad feeds Max his pumpkin
In all honesty he is really good at feeding and almost never spits his food out – this happened because he had Mum, Dad and both Grandmothers around him when he was feeding and was a little bit distracted. He turned his head just as I was moving in and this was the result

Just got home from my photoshoot and thought I would post this one. Not hugely impressed with the G3 after 5 hours shooting today. I’m off out for another hour or two soon and we’ll see how we go after that
Now I remember why I went DSLR – the focusing is sooooooooooooo sloooooooooowwwwww………
PS: There are 12 original, straight out of the camera files in this instantlogic.com album. Don’t forget the originals are 1-2 MB each so if you’re on a dial up line you might want to think twice about clicking on the link to the original size image
Update: here’s a couple from an evening trip to the beach

2.5 sec @ f/8.0 with 3 stop ND filter (built in to the camera!)

It looks pretty crap this small here’s a bigger one

A friend of mine has just bought a new digital camera…. not so exciting you say but here’s the funny bit. She works for a government department and has asked me to use the camera over the weekend and then go in on Monday morning and give her 12 strong team a Canon G3 digital photography 101 type course.
Perfect timing! Vic and Max are away this weekend (it was very lonely in the house last night :() but I have a new toy to play with and keep me occupied – yay!
Given that the weather is supposed to be quite nice today it’s off into town for a day of photography and coffee 😮

lol! He’s not really this bizarre looking
The very short focal length of my Clie makes for strange distortions…….
Vic had a driving lesson today so I thought I’d take Max for a walk along the coast. 70kph winds and sand make for fun walking – NOT! Luckily we had Max’s rain-cover so he was protected from the worst of it
