just quickly

It’s Monday night and the last 5 days has just flown!

Thursday and Friday were spent out of town in Auckland on business.  I’m doing two jobs for the next month and will be spending two days out of town for the next three weeks.  Between the travelling and the two jobs things are crazy busy…..

Saturday saw me have my first ever professional massage!  It was a gift for my birthday from Jay and Larry and Saturday was the last day that the certificate was valid.  It was a neck, shoulder and back massage and Sunday saw me hardly able to move!  My knots felt like walnuts along my shoulders and the breaking down of them took it’s toll.

Vic’s birthday tomorrow smile

grown up

Thanks for everyone’s comments/emails/phonecalls regarding Vic.  It’s taken until yesterday for her to get vaguely back to normal and to a state where she can lift Max comfortably.  Hopefully she’s well on the way to recovery now.

Speaking of Max, he was sitting at his wee table early last week and so I thought I’d give him his dinner there and see how he went.  Naturally he won’t have anything to do with his highchair now smile I took this photo yesterday and was slightly saddened to see how grown up he looks 🙁

I’m off to Christchurch tomorrow for a couple of days with work and I really hope Vic will be OK 🙁

She is feeling OK if she keeps up mild pain relief and she’s had lots of offers of help so I think she’ll be fine….. no doubt I’ll be on the phone every two minutes wink

See y’all soon.

It’s early afternoon and Vic and Max are asleep.

Vic didn’t get better.

She thought she was better so I went to a couple of meetings yesterday.  When I got home she was in so much pain that she couldn’t move or stand and was shaking with the pain so it was off to the hospital in the ambulance for my poor baby.  4 hours (most of it on entonox) later and a ruptured ovarian cyst was diagnosed.

They kept her in overnight to monitor and control the pain and Max and I went to the hospital to see her this morning.  She is home now and feeling a lot better although very tender and absolutely knackered and just on mild pain relief.

Max has just woken up so I better be off.

I went to check the mailbox on Saturday.  As I was peering inside I heard a funny noise and thought that the hinge needed oiling.  I raised my head to find a ewe staring at me with it’s big dumb eyes about 6 feet in front of me!

I stared – she stared and we stood there for about 15 seconds just looking at each other.  I slowly walked inside to grab Max and wandered back out to find her still standing on the footpath.  It wasn’t until her lamb popped out from behind our fence that I realised that she was standing her ground so that I didn’t hurt her baby.

All in all a slightly surreal experience.  This photo was taken the next morning as the same sheep made a meal of the lawn over the road smile

at last

Not much happening here………

I have, however, got http://www.holgability.com up and running smile

There’s not much on it at the moment but it does use a pretty cool flash based gallery system.  Go and have a look if you want and come back with any suggestions.

At last the weather’s calmed down a bit!  According to the news this morning we had 20+ hours of continuous 75kph (47mph) gusting to 180kph (112mph) winds which is the worst we’ve had for about 40 years.  People are in the process of cleaning up from floods, wind damage and landslides now………  Luckily we were OK but my mother had water coming in through the doors and windows on the south side of her house due to the wind and spent yesterday continually mopping up water 🙁

In other news I’ve just bought another domain, http://www.holgability.com, for two years.  I have no idea what I’ll do with it, I just liked the name.  Now all I have to do is tell Vic!

what a night

This post was written by Marc in the category(ies) News 2 Comments »

Man, what a night!  Wellington’s been in the grip of a major depression, weatherwise. for the last couple of days with strong, winds, rain, sleet and snow.  Last night it really struck with avengeance and we had hurricane strength southerly winds of 178kph (110mph!)

Our bedroom is on the southern side of the house and was getting the full force of the wind coming straight up the valley.  I honestly thought we might lose the roof (and still might as the weather hasn’t lessened up at all) and I ended up sleeping downstairs on the northern side of the house as the noise was just too much.

There are no trains running. One of the state highways out of the city is closed and the other is borderline because it has the sea breaking right over it. The airport is shut because of the weather and the fact that part of the terminal has lost it’s roof and damaged a plane – the list goes on.

Great day coming up!
