I know, I know, another Max related entry………
I’m at home with the wee mite at the mo while Vic’s out shopping with a friend. He’s fast asleep after taking a whole bottle of formula! Yep 230ml/9oz all in one go and without spilling/spitting out a drop!
We’ve been using a different teat for a couple of weeks now and can usually get his afternoon feed down him with a bit of a struggle and over an hour or so . This time though it was all relaxed concentration on his part and away we went. Much yayness!
Might not mean much to anyone else but it hopefully it will make Vic feel that she can get out and spend a bit more time on herself without worrying that Max’ll go hungry/thirsty.

We’ve put another four photos of Max up in his album. There’s a really cute one of him spread-eagled in his towel
that we scanned from a film we’ve just had developed.
Here’s one for my Mother who says there aren’t any of him showing off his teeth

? Max now has five teeth through
It’s been a while coming but number 5 finally broke through over the last couple of days (top, his left, second out)
? He’s also taken to sleeping on his front with his legs curled up underneath him and his bum up in the air! I think he thinks about crawling somewhere but then just falls asleep
It just can’t be comfortable!
? I think Max is a bit backwards……. at least he goes backwards. He’s very mobile now and kind of crawls with a bit of control, but only backwards! It’s really funny watching him concentrating on and staring at something, a toy for example, and slowly move away from it. It must be really frustrating! hee hee.
? He had his first “ethnic” food yesterday. We went into town and stopped at a Malaysian restaurant for lunch. While we had our lunch I fed him his lunch out of a jar and then he finished it of with a treat – a little piece of roti. He seemed to like it but it’s a bit of a tough bread to eat with no molars
He had fun gumming it for a while though and seemed to enjoy the taste.

I can’t believe it’s been two years since the twin towers were hit!
I remember that day like it was yesterday – I was at home that and just happened to turn on the news during my lunch to see what was going on. The TV showed coverage about 5 mins after the first tower was hit and they were talking about a mistake made by a pilot and how they were checking all of the instrument approach hardware.
A little while later I was sitting there watching and the second plane hit. My stomach lurched and I’m sure I just sat there with my mouth open – both myself and the commentators just couldn’t get our minds around what was going on in front of us. I had called Vic when I first saw the news as she was working for a big US financial organisation at the time and I knew they had offices in NY.
I just sat in front of the TV for about 8 hours that day trying to take it all in. Our flat was directly across the river from the tallest building in London and they evacuated it soon after they realised what was going on (plus it’s on the flight path for one of London’s airports) and for days after we looked into the sky at the slightest noise.
The world changed a lot that day.

Over the last few days Max has discovered that he can crawl backwards for about two feet and then he tucks his feet under and sits up! He’s no good at forwards yet but even so can get himself into some interesting situations

Here in New Zealand it was Fathers Day yesterday. Max was very nice and popped out at some stage to buy me a card and some chocolate covered almonds
While we were out visiting my Dad the flower fairy came visiting and left these flowers in our lounge! The card says “Happy 1st Fathers Day” and as only one other person has a key to our flat I’d like to thank Larry for the thought and flowers
I’m not a big fan of Fathers Day and won’t be raising Max to do anything on that day – Mothers Day yes, but not Fathers.
While at my Dad’s he and I had great fun going through some old photos he had uncovered. They were mainly from his time in the British paratroopers in the early sixties. He spent time in the Middle East (Aden, Bahrain etc) and was working under the UN flag. Interesting stuff seeing your Dad as an 18 year old in one of the world elite fighting forces.

OK – the starting themes are up at Connect 8. This project will take a bit more planning but this time I’m going to stick to the rules and use all new photo’s.
Deb’s doing it too – wanna join in ?
