too much max

This post was written by Marc in the category(ies) Max 2 Comments »

We reached another milestone in Max’s life yesterday – he went from his rear facing baby car seat to a forward facing child restraint (especially designed for big boys smile)

Our first trip was into town to have brunch with a friend of Vic’s and Max was extremely confused about the new seating arrangement smile He spent the whole 15 minutes looking at us with a perplexed expression on his face…. hee hee

The title of this entry relates to the preponderance of the letters m-a-x in our life at the moment.  Whenever we go in the car we put Max in his Maxi Rider car seat which is in the rear seat of our Nissan Maxima………. petty I know but it just came to us this morning smile

thought

In the UK when I would leave a bus by the front door I would say “cheers” to the driver. I would do this for providing me with a service just as I would say thank you to a shop assistant. People, including the driver more often than not, would look at me as though I was some kind of freak (but at least a polite one smile)

In NZ 90% of passengers say “thank you driver” when they get off the bus – even saying it loudly from the back door.

One small difference between the two countries.

Busy Boy

This post was written by Marc in the category(ies) Max No Comments »

FINALLY – after seven and a half months, a small update from Vic ….

Max has just sat himself up – from laying on his tummy he wriggled backwards and pushed up on his arms at the same time, somehow got his feet underneath him and then he was up!  He looked very pleased with himself smile

We had our first visit to the local playgroup this morning – Max was really good considering he hadn’t been in a room with that many kids before.  He stared very seriously at everyone to start with, but for most of the time we sat on the floor together with a nine month old boy and they checked each other out – which involved patting each other, Max chewing the little boys shoes (toes as well) and also trying to rip his new friends ears off.  They played with the same toys for about an hour and the only time we nearly had tears was when a little girl face-planted on the mat in front of them.  She promptly burst into tears, and both Max and his new friends little bottom lips came out – thankfully there was a room full of toys to distract them with.  Had a chat to a few of the other mums (and dads) while there and am looking forward to going again next week.

After seeing these shots from Deb I thought that I’d spend a couple of hours looking for abstracts in town.

Don’t go to bed early thinking you’ll get started and just read a few pages of Digital Fortress by Dan Brown.

If you do you might just end up still being awake, bleary eyed and low on battery, at 01:30 so that you can finish it and see what happens…….zzzzzzzzzzzzz

Good book though smile

homeless

This post was written by Marc in the category(ies) WWW 2 Comments »

A homeless man was killed in NZ’s largest city Auckland.  He died of serious head injuries after a brutal beating and the police are asking for anyone with information to call their hotline. Story here.

This story is not that big but what got me was the hotline number – yes folks, to give the police information on on the brutal beating to death of a homeless man call:

Wow I’ve got to 20,000 hits!  I made this entry on June 4th about making it to the 15,000 mark.  That’s 5,000 hits in 86 days or just under 60 per day!

Thanks smile
