wow!

I am VERY surprised – out of the four prints that I submitted for the WPS annual exhibition three got selected!  In total 60 were selected from 150 so to get three from four was most unexpected! Here are the images selected:

Steel waves ? Max ? Legless

All in all yesterday was a good day – pics chosen for the exhibition, $10 won on the lottery and $260 won on the bar gaming machines smile

I did a big long update yesterday and lost it all due to sheer incompetence and me shutting the window down accidentally 🙁 I couldn’t be arsed trying to do it again until now…….

Max has started waking up in the middle of the night at the moment the little bugger! We can kind of forgive him though as his seventh tooth (bottom left, second out from the middle) has come through in the last couple of days and we think number eight is on it’s way too smile He’s also getting much more active and now lets go of things and just stands there for 5 seconds or so. He and Vic went to the Plunket rooms yesterday for his nine month check up and while he was playing the nurse asked Vic if he was there for his 15 month check!  At 9 months and 3 weeks he weighs 10.52kg (23lb 8oz) and so has tripled his birth weight.

On the photography front I have entered four prints into consideration for the Wellington Photographic Society’s annual exhibition.  They have been professionally mounted (unfortunately at a not inconsiderable expense) to give them more of a chance at being selected.  Two really good things have happened this year for the exhibition.  The first is that we got some funding from the city council so we can afford to have the exhibition at Wellington’s premier arts and convention center, The Michael Fowler Centre The second is that we have professional photography editor and publisher Geoff Blackwell selecting the images to be displayed. For those that don’t know he selected the images for the M.I.L.K series so if I get even one out of the four chosen I’ll be happy!

Working from home is taking a bit of getting used to but I’m getting the hang of it smile I spent a big chunk of yesterday doing online training for Ethics and Export Compliance…. yay wink

Have a great weekend.

yay – I’m back! smile It was VERY nice to wake up this morning next to Vic and then have Max come crawling through to play after his morning feed.

The trip to Sydney went pretty well – there is just so much to learn though!  The people seemed nice enough and I think I’ll enjoy working at Dell.

The highlight of my trip was going to a bar at about midnight on Tuesday, recognising this guy at the bar, going up and offering to buy him a drink but then him buying me drinks for the next hour and chatting about the rugby world cup.  The person I recognised? None other than Stu Wilson, one of the greatest All Black wingers of all time!  When I offered to buy him a drink saying that it would be an honour (and great bragging rights) he said “Channel 7 are paying and wouldn’t it be even better to tell the people back at home that I bought you drinks?” Damn right! Plus I very rarely turn down free drinks wink

Anyway, I’m back and very happy about it smile I find out early next week whether or not I go to Penang, Malaysia the week after next… oh joy wink

Oh the joys of once again being connected to the online world!

Where to start! The move went pretty well and we are now firmly ensconced in our new house with only a few boxes left to unpack.  It’s bigger, newer, drier and Vic feels a lot more comfortable here than in our old place smile It has next-door neighbours that wander around naked with no curtains and a house out the back that had a bunch of giggling, bikini clad teenage girls running around throwing water at each other for hours the other day! Unfortunately the naked neighbour was not a sylph-like teenage girl but an overweight middle aged woman……..I just can’t seem to get the mix right wink

I also have the details organised for my first day of work next Monday – yay!  The bad news is that it involves leaving the house at 04:00 to catch an 06:00 flight to Sydney, Australia (I’m there for the first week)…. and it’s a public holiday here in NZ! Bummer 🙁

Max has discovered a new trick – climbing stairs! This is the first 2 storey house he’s lived in and I was amazed at how quickly he picked the whole climbing thing up!  I was sitting at the top of the stairs and Vic was behind Max so that he wouldn’t fall.  The first half a dozen stairs were taken very tentatively but by the time he got to the second half he had it sussed and was going up the with no hesitating!  We pick up a gate today for the bottom of the stairs……. smile

That’s all for now, I’ll probably do another update soon smile

getting there

2 days until the movers come and pick up the big stuff………..I’ve moved a load of small stuff today and I’ll be glad when it’s over 😮

Thursday went well with the Dell customer demo that I went to.  It was quite strange getting up and going to work after 6 months of not having to! I really enjoyed it and the people that I’m going to work with seem very nice.  I also ended up having a breakfast meeting on Friday at 07:30 so that I could meet the MD for Dell Australasia wink I formally start on the 27th of October and may away for the first three weeks!  the first in Australia and the next two in Malaysia at a training boot camp.  It’s all up in the air at the moment so we’ll wait and see.

Max is coming along in leaps and bounds and has started to use the small coffee table at Nana Jan’s place as a walker. He uses it to stand up and then pushes it along and moves his feet to keep up with it… clever boy! wink He and Vic are staying up at Janet’s place for a couple of nights – the guys upstairs are moving next weekend and I was worried that they’d have a mad party one night this weekend.  Vic has had a couple of nights where she’s slept really badly (probably the stress of moving) and the last thing I want is her to be up all night because the neighbours are partying. The last time they had a party Vic was looking after her Mum after a small op and wasn’t here for all the yahooing and vomiting on my car……………

hi there

Sorry I haven’t been here much lately but things are a bit crazy at the moment!

Living wise I have organised all the necessities for the new house – power, phone and satellite TV smile For work I need a second phone line and broadband internet access so had a chat with the landlord tonight to make sure he’s OK with that (he is….phew!) Here’s a lo res clie picture of the new place:

On the job front I have been working my through the paperwork – there are 10 signatures needed!  The really funny thing is that I’m going to a Dell/EMC/Microsoft customer session tomorrow as a Dell person and it’s still almost 3 weeks before I start! (27th October is my start date) lol!
