blimey – 6 days!

This post was written by Marc in the category(ies) Ramblings 1 Comment »

I can’t believe it’s been six days since the last entry.  There’s not really much to say though……….

Max is covered in bruises from various “I’m so good at walking I can almost run – oh no my legs aren’t really up to the task – oh shit I’m wiping out at speed” episodes smile Poor wee man has many more to go, I know, but he looks like an abused child sometimes!  He’s also off baby formula now and has moved to 100% full fat milk with no obvious effects.

We’re looking at getting a house built!  The bank will lend us loads of money and there is a design/build package up for grabs about 5 minutes from where we are.  5 bedrooms and approx 2700 square feet. We are having a meeting with the developer on Monday to ask some questions………

aboutlight has stalled a wee bit 🙁 I don’t know what to use as a back end and although I have a semi working site up and running locally using pMachine the fact that I can’t allocate multiple categories really bugs me.  I can’t seem to get movabletype running locally either……….

No much else going on really – I’m off to Sydney on Tuesday for the rest of the week so it’ll be another quiet week in marcandvicdotcomland.

Here’s a couple of shots that I have recently scanned – the scans aren’t that great but I love the pictures smile

multi-tasking

This post was written by Marc in the category(ies) Ramblings 2 Comments »

Who says guys can’t multi-task?  It’s another stunning day here in Wellington smile Vic and Max are visiting Janet and I’m sitting on the couch:

1) Trying to figure out a layout and backend for http://www.aboutlight.com.  I wouldn’t mind using a blogging/cms tool to manage it so am looking at pMachine, MT (again) WordPress and a few full-on CMS’s. I might also look at some gallery tools to see how configurable they are.

2) Keeping an eye on the 5th cricket ODI between NZ and Pakistan. 200-3 go the blackcaps!

3) Listening to The Alan Parsons Project – The Instrumental Works.  Released in 1988 it’s timeless……..

working from home

The joys of working from home smile It’s about 25C/77F and a fine, calm day.  I’m sitting outside under a big sun umbrella with my laptop hooked up to work via my WLAN and it’s thoroughly enjoyable smile

feeling chipper

Max now has his first molar! Yep, it came though yesterday (still no sight of #8 front tooth though) Having an extra tooth might make up for the one he just took a great chip out of!  He has always liked to play with my maglight and today decided to smash it into his face whilst standing up!  He chipped off about 1/8th of one of his middle top teeth the silly eejit! and know looks even more dentally out of balance – lol!

Other Max related points:

? In the last few weeks he’s started to show affection (awww) He’ll come up to you and lay his head on your leg (or chest if you’re lying down) and just hold it there for a while.  It really is very sweet and makes me go all gooey smile

? He’s also started to look at you between his legs when he’s standing up! He’ll bend over and either put his hands on the floor and look at you between his legs or just put the top of his head on the floor and peek through smile It looks so funny!

That’s about it for now.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAX!

pic

I can’t believe that our wee man is one year old 🙁 One of the kids that came to Max’s party was only 8 weeks old and it was amazing to think that Max was that small – seems like yesterday too! Now he’s walking and burbling and feeding himself (and the walls, chairs, me…..) and is a real little person.  Does every year pass this quickly?  I hope not, but if it does I can see why people with teenagers still say that it seems like yesterday that their children were just babies.

A bittersweet day for me today……….

The highlight of this weekend was Max’s first birthday party! smile

All I can say is madness! We had 24 adults and seven children in our wee house and it was absolute bedlam smile Luckily after two weeks of crappy weather the day was stunning with no cloud and just a gentle breeze. Max was, of course, spoilt rotten and between getting drinks and cooking up a storm on the BBQ I probably said a dozen words to him or Vic all day 🙁 People were gone by about 8:30pm and Vic and I collapsed into bed about an hour later – lol!

Just a great day and many thanks must go to my darling wife for all the preparation and hard work, my Mum for the great cake, Auntie Lala for being herself in the kitchen on the day, Max for being an angel all day and not getting stroppy even though he had no afternoon nap and everyone for the presents and coming along and making it the fantastic day it was.

The are loads of pictures here (courtesy of Uncle Jay) – just little ones and fairly compressed so all you people on dial-up can enjoy them as well smile

No TV! The little man came to fix it and took it away!  We have a Philips 32” widescreen and ever since we got it’s been out of focus at the sides and has had a strange discolouration in one corner. After 8 months I finally called someone to have a look at it and now it’s gone to the great TV testing place up the road……… I hope it’s OK tonight and not too lonely 🙁
