And there was me thinking it was all going so well………… After having my wisdom teeth out last Tuesday I thought I was away laughing when everything was OK on Thursday. Friday my jaw was a wee bit sore but I thought that I had just overdone it and pulled the stitches or something – little did I know that those bacteria were massively busy having asexual sex and multiplying like the little buggers that they are! By Saturday the glands in my jaw were up and my jaw hardly moving……..

Sunday arrived and I had no jawline on the left to speak of as my glands were up so much and I couldn’t open my mouth more than about 1cm 🙁 A quick call to my oral surgeon, a faxed prescription and I’m now doped up to the eyeballs with pain killers and antibiotics and am seriously thinking about leaving work and going home and taking a day or two off work…….

Max has been a little bugger today according to Vic, hardly sleeping always feeding, you know – the usual.

I had a good evening though – I washed Max’s hair, gave him a bath and then gave him a full body massage with sweet almond oil. Hee hee smile

I now have 100 photos in the image database! We also received the film from Vic’s P&S camera that we had at the hospital when Max was born and when I find the time I’ll scan some of the shots in and post them there.

As for us we had a shit night last night 🙁 Max was awake and screaming from 18:00 to 01:00! Vic sent me off to bed at about eleven but I got up at midnight to give her a break and Max went down eventually but poor old Vic is knackered today. It wouldn’t be so bad but Vic has a busy day planned with her first tube ride with Max. She’s off to New Zealand house to apply for NZ citizenship and a passport for Max – if I remember I’ll scan in his dodgy passport photo.

hi there

Yesterday was another day where the UK fell apart due to a couple of inches of snow 🙁 Motorways closed, trains didn’t run and people were leaving their cars abandoned at the side of the road because it was faster to walk……… I thought it was just because people couldn’t handle the conditions and this was pretty much confirmed to me this morning. I was standing outside our building and overheard a conversation between two guys standing next to me. The older of the two said “I was driving along last night in the snow and had to brake. My brakes made a funny chattering sound and so I thought they weren’t working properly so I used my handbrake as well. The handbrake just locked up the rear wheels though and I was sliding around everywhere. I was only later that I realised that it was the anti-lock braking”

1) Yes, that’s what ABS sounds like and 2) Who would be stupid enough to use their handbrake in the snow! What a muppet! After hearing this it really didn’t surprise me that there were so many accidents yesterday.

In other news we are still walking around slightly dazed. We had a great night the night before last – Max slept from midnight to 04:30 and then 05:30 to 09:00 which was fantastic. He obviously thought that he’d been far to nice to us though and was up every couple of hours last night. I hope Vic’s getting as much sleep as possible during the day today as she was way overtired last night and all weepy during our 03:30 chat this morning.

Besides that we really have nothing to report – work and baby is about it….

PS: A special thanks to Gina who’s my one and only registered user on the images section smile

It’s the end of my first day back at work and I am absolutely knackered! It was really busy at work with 2 weeks worth of catching up to do and although I didn’t get up last night (thanks Vic) it was midnight before we got to sleep and I was woken two or three times. Poor Vic looked shattered when I got home and has just woken up from a 2 hour nap so I’m off to make dinner. Bit of a bugger that we won’t eat until 10 but as I had no lunch, later is better than never!

And a big event in Max’s life today – the remains of his umbilical cord fell off. He now has a belly button!

good effort

Last night was very strange…….

Max woke up about 22:00 last night for a feed which is pretty normal and he latched on and went for it like a starving wee fella. What wasn’t normal (gee, from the whole two nights before wink) is that he didn’t go back down until 02:45 🙁 And this wasn’t just being up either, this was screaming and wailing as though the world was doing him some great disservice staying up! By 02:00 our eyeballs were just hanging out of our heads and Vic and I were handing him back and forth like a football to try and get him settled but it wasn’t until we changed his nappy again and fed him from 02:00-02:45 that he settled to any great degree. Vic’s last words as we fell very quickly into a deep sleep (passing out?) were “good effort” smile

So that was the bad part…..

The good part is that it’s just before 08:00 and he’s only just woken up! I’ve just changed him and he’s feeding strongly but we’ve had five hours sleep all in one go both for him and us. Much yayness!

Here’s another picture. This was just me playing around but I liked this one because you can see the wee blister on his top lip from feeding.

Here you go…
