day 9

This post was written by Marc in the category(ies) News 1 Comment »

Phew, the weather here in Wellington has been fantastic since we got home – 23/74 and clear everyday. Poor wee Max gets so hot and sweaty when he gets wound up (as do his parents!)

We had Jason and Laraine’s wedding on Saturday and had a great time. They both looked great and the service was lovely, unfortunately I missed half of it as I was outside trying to keep Max quiet smile I was also the MC for the night and managed to get through it without screwing up anything too major………

Staying with Vic’s mother hasn’t been too painful (not painful at all in fact!) We’ve had 9 days here and she has spoilt us rotten smile She’s been like a little elf – dirty dishes and laundry magically disappear and return clean and fresh! Tomorrow we are off to housesit for Jay and Larry while they are in Melbourne for their honeymoon and whilst it’ll be great to be on our own it will also be strange having to look after ourselves again. I get lazy really quickly smile

here at last

The view out of our window has changed – no more London and loads more New Zealand!

Yep that’s right – we’re back in the homeland (for the moment anyway) and we’re loving it! Even more to the point the grandparents are loving it smile

The trip over here was long (36 hours non-stop door to door) but uneventful. Max was an angel for the first 12 hour flight, slightly less angelic for the second 12 hour flight and a bit of a bugger on the last one hour leg……….

Anyway we’re here now and although Max’s rhythms are out by twelve hours (sleeping during the day and awake it night – damn those time zones!!) we’re very happy to back in the bosom of our families smile

I hope you are all well – this is the first time that I’ve been online in a week so I haven’t had time to catch up on my online world. Maybe soon smile

? Max had his six week check today and was found to be in tip-top condition. He’s also put on just over a pound in the last week and now tips the scales at a hearty 12 pounds 5 ounces.

? TeamNZ lost the fourth race of the America’s cup after dismasting. Bloody hell – they’ve had years of testing in the Hauraki Gulf and lose two races with equipment failure due to the conditions. It now looks like the cup will be going to Europe (Switzerland) for the first time in it’s 152 year history.

? Not much more news really……………..

evening

I just had the best evening! I got home early and Vic was feeding Max. At six I sent her to bed and Max lay in my arms sleeping for two hours smile I should have put him to bed but he hadn’t slept all day and Vic was frazzled so I thought that I could keep a better eye on him if he was with me. After Vic got up I put him into bed and he’s slept for another 90 minutes!

Such a cool way to spend two hours, gazing down at my son……..

thursday

It’s Thursday and I’ve survived 4 days of London’s congestion charge. For those that haven’t heard you now have to pay ?5 (8USD) to enter an 8 square mile zone that is central London between 07:00 and 18:30 🙁 They cunningly started it at the beginning of the school holidays so the traffic was about 20% less anyway and then said “look what a difference it’s made, there’s hardly any traffic!” Of course not you fools!  Anyway…. my old route to work used to go though one corner of the zone and I’ve had to re-plan it to, unfortunately, use one of the boundary roads. The main problem with this is everyone else is doing the same 🙁 Oh well………

As for the Cramers everyone is OK and life just zips past in a blur of work, nappies and cuddles. Max was weighed again today and in the last three weeks his weight has gone from 9-3 to 10-6 to 11-4 and he seems to be happy enough with his lot smile

? I can now open my jaw the whole way! smile I couldn’t when I was having lunch at 2pm yesterday but could when we had dinner at 7 – strange…… Still a bit sore but the fact that it opens the whole way two weeks after I had my wisdom teeth out is a weight off my mind. For a while I thought I’d be stuck opening my mouth one finger width wide 😮

? NZ had an up and down weekend sports wise – we lost the second race of the Americas cup (and on the last leg too :() But won the World Cup cricket match against South Africa smile In side news it was great to see Italy win only their second Six Nations rugby match this weekend (against Wales)

We’re all doing well and Max is pretty much behaving himself. Vic’s getting up once a night and if she can get get a nap during the day then things don’t seem too bad. If she doesn’t then it means that Max is playing up and that mixed with a lack of sleep gets a bit much at times I think. Luckily in cases like this I take him off her hands for a couple of hours in the evening and spend a couple of hours of quality time with my son by sending Vic off to bed wink He’s also now out of all his newborn clothes and into 0-3 months stuff and gets weighed again this week – should be interesting to see how much he’s put on this week smile

one month old

Max is one month old today! It only seem like yesterday that we were bringing him home smile

My Mother was talking to Vic the other day and was asking if Max was getting enough milk. Here’s proof that he is………. He went to see the health visitor today and was weighed again. In the last eight days he’s put on 1lb 3oz! and how weighs in at 10lb 6oz.  I guess he’s getting enough…………

I also had my first day back at work (which unfortunately included 6.5 hours driving) after 2 days off and the antibiotics seem to be working as I now have a jawline on the left again smile I still can’t open my mouth very far but it’s getting a bit better each day.

Have a nice weekend everyone – we’re off to see Vic’s uncle who had a minor (in a medical sense) heart attack just over a week ago and I’m taking my old PC up to him so that he’s got something to do over the next month that he’s not allowed to work or drive 🙁
